Frequently Asked Questions about the Dress Code

RETURN to FAQs

What is the dress code?
Our dress code is broad but will be strictly enforced. You must be dressed alternatively - dress to impress! Rubber, leather, naked, punk, goth, vampyre, lolita, cyber, gimp, medical, uniform, manga, fetish, freak, rockabilly, rivethead, ballgown.......

What won't get in: normal suits, jeans, t.shirts, sportswear etc. Obviously there are always exceptions, for instance Cyberdog or band t.shirts are fine. If you are worried feel free to mail us, or take a look at the gallery for inspiration. ROAR applies at all AC events - NO REFUNDS!

We get many emails and queries about the dresscode, and we've put them below with our replies to help you decide what to wear!

Do you allow Nazi insignia at AntiChrist?
Yes. Not because we are Nazis, or approve of Nazi'ism, but because we don't believe in censorship, and we understand that some people enjoy wearing the symbols for their own personal reasons.

Can I bring a weapon as part of my outfit?
Not if it can be used as an actual weapon. This is the decision of the venue's security team. You will be searched upon entry, and anything they declare dangerous will be held for you until you exit the venue.

Items that won't get in: real guns, knives, swords, blades etc..

Items that will be allowed in: Claw rings, studded belts/collars, pretend weapons such as steampunk ray guns or replica pistols etc. The security team may want to check that these are fake or de activated.

Further questions on dresscode that we've answered by email...

Q  I wanted to ask as part of the dress code, is dead threads top with leather straps suitable and a pair of mercy chained trousers. However, if I came in a plain black jacket on top, would that be allowed too or is there a place where I can leave it?
A  Thanks for your mail. Your outfit sounds absolutely fine to me, as does your jacket. We do have cloakrooms though, should you prefer to leave your jacket there :-)

Q  My wife & I are thinking of coming to the club in may but are concerned about not getting in due to the dress code. We don't really dress gothic usually & can't afford to buy new clothes.
I would like the wear a Lost Boys t shirt, black jeans & trainers. My wife would like to wear a black dress, boots & will do something funky with her hair. I can not do this because I have no hair ha ha. Could you tell me if this will be acceptable to gain entry?
A  Thanks for your email. We are pretty broad and generous as long as its clear people are alternative or fetish inclined by nature. However trainers are a definite no no I'm afraid. As long as you look the part (as in above) you wont have  a problem, but if you haven't made an effort and look like a 'general' passer by you may.... maybe check the galleries (and FAQ sections), maybe also post images in the forums and solicit advice and help in developing your look for little/no ££'s as there are many things you could do and spend no money which would guarantee your entry! :)

Q  I would like to come to your party tomorrow night and im just wondering  my look if it would be on theme with dress code. I will be wearing leather boots, leather trousers without shirt and leather mask who i will be wearing on and off during the party. Please let me know if that it would be fine
A  Sounds ok :)  See you at the Party later!

Q  I've read the dress code on your site but I just want clarification as I realise some places can be stricter than others. I generally prefer to dress understated: in a suit jacket with black trousers with buckles and metal on and with a couple additional pieces i.e spikey cuffs and maybe a necklace of some kind. Oh and this with some big boots. I've seen that this may not be acceptable at some places and was wondering whether it would be okay for club A/C. (I will have my partner on a leash if that helps, and she favours a ultra gothy look)
A  Sounds fine to me...as long as you don't look chavvy and look alt you'll get in (no jeans either) so your attire sounds just dandy :)

Q  I'm just wondering about the dress code for me. Is it OK if I wear black jeans + Black Rose T shirt + cowboy boots + long black leather coat?
A  Thanks for your message. You can get lost of idea's from the AC galleries however as long as you are alternative Gothic or fetish that's all fine as is what you propose to wear :)

Q  Hello there, I found your website via IC and want to attend the next event you have on the 5 of March but am curious about the dress code for attendance, as it says (Alice in Wonderland/Spring Faeries dresscode theme) and wondered if this is the only way you can gain access as I only own a military uniform but it does look like it could be from Alice in Wonderland, I have only just started to get out on to the scene and would dearly love to experience your club, please could you get back to me as soon as possible as I want to attend this event as many of my friends will be attending it
A  All fetish /alternative is fine so military/uniform is also fine, fear not. The Alice theme is entirely optional :)

Q  I've got a question about the dress code. I go for a Steampunk dress style, which I think does fall under the alternative category, but I'm just asking for clarification to be 100% sure before attending. Thanks.
A  Steampunk attire is more than welcome at AC :-)  Look forward to seeing you there!

Q  Unfortunately my friend has broken her toe, and so i have an additional last minute question: The dress code says no sportswear, but can she wear non-sporty trainers if they are hidden under some fluffy leg warmers?
A  thats absolutely fine :)  I won't ask how she broke her toe!

We are bringing a friend with us on 26th who has not been to AC before. We're having a few 'dress code' issues. The guy we are bringing with us is a 21yr old goth/emo who just happens to be 6'5' tall and almost skeletal he is so skinny (ie: less than a 28" waist and about a 35" inside leg!). He has no 'bottom halves' that aren't cloth. There's no way he can afford to get anything made and it's been impossible to buy anything readymade in his size. Can he wear jeans as part of his outfit? Obviously the rest of the outfit/makeup/hair will look good but I just cannot see what else he can wear on his legs.....and he is desperate to come. A male skirt is out of the question as he REALLY doesn't have the legs for it! LOL! Believe me, I've seen better ones on a chicken (and it was a very skinny chicken)!
A  Black jeans or cloth, (but not blue) are fine as long as he looks as you say Goth emo anyway.....if he is obviously alternative this will be fine, its only if an individual is clearly a chav or not alt/fetish that we would have a problem. Hope thats good and the rest of his outfit/make up etc makes up for his legs :)
